Haldir laughed as he dropped his phone beside him on the bed, a silver flask clutched in his other hand. He shook his head and got up. He put the open flask up to his lips, taking a long drink of the whiskey that was contained inside. Once he emptied the flask, he placed it on the bed side table and went to make sure that everything was perfect. He didn't think it would be as easy as it had been to lure Sammie over to the hotel. All it took were a few choice words and a bit of convincing and she was practically eating out of his hand. He had only told her that his older brother had appeared here in Hawaii, looking to make amends for whatever the hell he had said to her to get them on such bad terms. If what she had told them before was any clue to what was really going on between his brother and his ex, then really it was any wonder why she had agreed to come in the first place.
The truth was, Pippin wasn't actually there. In fact, he had no idea where Pippin was, or what he was doing. the two for them hadn't talked since Haldir decided to be a real dick and tell his brother about his intimate encounter with Sammie and that put a hole where holes didn't belong in their relationship. Sure, the two of them had their issues, they were brothers and basically complete opposites, apart from a few shared traits, but they still talked. It wasn't rare for them to not talk or long periods of time, and when they didn't they kept in contact through their younger sister, Galadriel or "Lady" as she preferred to be called. She was off gallivanting in London, attending college. Even now he tried to get Lady to talk to Pippin for her, buts he had told him to shove it. it was then that Haldir knew he'd fucked up and had to do something to fix at least one of his relationships. So he had decided when Sammie had started to talk to him that afternoon, that he would start with her.
Honestly, Haldir had no real plan for what was going to happen next. He was drunk, but not like the last time he'd seen Sammie. No. This time was different. He knew he was drunk, but was going to e able to hide it; he had to. He couldn't give away anything. Sure, Sammie probably figured he'd had a couple drinks during their internet conversation, but what she hadn't known was that he'd pretty much been drinking since returning from the gym. He'd been drunk when he logged on, and it only escalated from there. He had a drinking problem. At first it was innocent enough, a way to releave the accumulating stress that he faced during his days. His publisher was getting restless, and he was getting frustrated. He wanted to end his series as a trilogy, but the more he wrote the more and more it looked like it would continue for many books to come. The more he became stressed, the more he drank, and now it was something he barely had any control over.
Half an hour passed since he'd stopped talking to Sammie, and the time he'd figured he was ready or her to arrive. He had cleaned up his room to the best of his abilities, fixing the linens on his bed, rounding up his work and shoving it away in a drawer and a messenger bag, sticking the bag in the closet. Luckily he'd found time to run down to the hotel flower shop and purchased six dozen roses which he used the petals to help decorate. He kept a single rose in a crystal vase atop the table, half a dozen were laid against the pillows on his bed, with petals scattered around them. The rest had been scattered in a trail from just outside the door to the bedroom. And one last rose he kept for himself, to present to Sammie upon her arrival. The entire suite was illuminated in candlelight, all other lights turned out. Haldir smiled at his work and hid in the bathroom attached to the bedroom. He was proud of his work. He found it to be very Pippin-esque, although he wasn't trying to mimic his brother. He was only trying to keep the illusion that he was there to further the lie before he put the real action into play. Even if he didn't know what it was yet. He heard the knock at the door, but didn't move from his spot. He hoped that she would notice the petals, and follow them in. Luckily he'd also forgotten to shut the door fully as he lay the trail of petals through the room. He knew that there were two ways that this could play out. The good, or the bad. He wasn't sure which one would be which, but honestly right then and there, he didn't care. outfit: CLICK (The ring's for later ;])

"guys?" she called out again, still waiting for at least one of them to appear so she would know this wasn't someones sick idea of a joke. He heard a second, louder knock at the door and shifted his stance, playing with one of the deep red petals on the rose in his hand. Maybe he should have gone and opened the door for her. He shook his head to himself. No, he couldn't. He had a plan set, though it was still incomplete, it was still a plan. He swallowed nervously, and closed his eyes, taking a few deep breathes. Okay, so he was more nervous than he'd originally thought. Even in his drunk-ish state, he was beginning to feel like this was a stupid idea. He put the rose down on the bathroom counter and leaned in, placing his hands on the white marble. He looked at himself in the mirror, staring intently at his reflection, even if he couldn't see it all that well. He didn't think that he looked that bad, and with his ego, even if it was small, (Pippin's was definitely much bigger) he didn't feel like he looked his best either. In the midst of all the preparation of the room, he had forgotten to take care of himself. Sure, he had taken a shower at the gym, and even managed to fix his hair so it didn't look like a mess, but he found his green eyes sullen and tired. The author blinked at his reflexion and sighed softly so that No one hear him.
"Hello? Haldir, Pippin?"
Haldir looked at the door of the bathroom, and into the candlelit room beyond. He smirked and straightened his posture. He picked the rose back up and took a step back, furthering himself into the bathroom. He had no idea why he had done this, but it was already done. He resumed his fiddling, only this time he stuck his free hand into the pocket of his jeans and began to fiddle with what was in his pocket. A ring. Haldir's eyes widened with the realization of what was in his pocket only to realize then that the pants he was wearing weren't his own, but his brothers. It was strange, Haldir himself was a tall man, and Pippin was as well, but he was at least four inches shorter than he. How could these pants fit him was the question. Sure, when he'd put them on at the gym he'd found them a little tight in the waist, but he'd figured that he'd just gained a bit of weight. It wasn't as if he was eating the best, and his trips to the gym weren't as frequent as they once had been.
Distracted, Haldir pulled the ring from his pocket and examined it. It was a cute little thing, but damn was it ever huge. He wasn't a diamond expert or anything, but knowing his brother the large blue-green diamond that sat center stage was real, as were the two clear ones on either side. Quickly, he looked up, listening to for any sign that Sammie was getting closer. "Guys? Pippin? Haldir had said you had some romance ideas, but like I told him, I'm not looking for any romance right now." He bit his lip. Damn. She was getting closer. He still found it a little amusing that she thought his brother was there with him, but he wasn't going to dwell on that now. What he was going to dwell on was the fact that his brother had a rock like this in his jeans. Shaking his head, Haldir stuck the ring in his pocket, and stepped out of the bathroom, smiling the best he was capable when he wasn't completely off his rocker, the rose still tightly clutched in his hands. "Guys?"
Haldir approached Sammie and tapped her on the shoulder. "Right here, love." He said, waiting for her to turn around. He could feel his heart begin to race snide his chest. He was curious to see what she would do. Would she yell, would she ask where his brother was? Well the second was an obvious question, but what he was more worried about was how she was going to react when he told her that he'd lied to her. He figured that she would either stay and proceed to argue with him about God knows what they argue about now. Or she would hit him, say something he probably wouldn't listen to and then leave. He felt that it was getting repetitious between them and he was bored. He realized the that it was one of the reasons for this. Not only did he want to make amends for his stupidity, but he wanted to spice up their relationship. It wasn't as if the fact that the two of them had sleep together hadn't done that already, but he knew that soon that would only be a little scar on a much bigger picture. outfit: CLICK (The ring's for later ;])

"hi haldir." samantha said softly as she tried to compose herself, before haldir could tell she had been startled. trying to look around the tall man, she tried to see if pippin was behind him, "where is your brother?" she asked softly, also trying to figure out where he had come from. looking up at haldir, her eyes caught his face and rested there for a moment. things were starting to become more weird than she had expected. here haldir was alone, but why. "what are you two boys up to?" samantha asked, hoping she would be able to cut right to the chase. she doubted that haldir would just come out and tell her what was going on, but she felt it was at least worth a shot. "i told you to tell pippin i wasn't looking for any romance." samantha said waving at all the flowers and candles around the room "and i would say, this is romance, a lot of it too. its sweet, but very unwanted." she added nicely, hoping pippin wasn't around to hear her. she didn't mean to sound rude or anything, she had just thought she had been clear about not wanting to be romanced tonight.[/div] hallie (kait), outfit, 855 words, <3 [/style] credit to TONY

Where was his brother. She had asked it. The question he knew she would ask. The question that weighed heavy on his mind. The answer he never wanted to give her, but whether he did or not, she would find it out; the fact that he had no idea where his brother was. Los Angeles, Wellington, maybe he was in London with their sister. He didn't know. Lady wouldn't tell him. He hadn't bothered to ask their parents, and Pippin himself wasn't talking to him, so the answer was unknown. Haldir shrugged. He lifted his free hand and picked off one of the petals on the rose in his hand. He ran his fingers over it, the softness almost calming his nerves. He didn't quite know why he was so nervous. It wasn't as if he was going to propose to the girl. He remembered the ring. Pippin was going to. That's what it had been for. He was going to propose to Sammie. How hadn't he known this? Even with all of their stupid sibling rivalry crap, they told each other everything. He mentally cursed his brother. But now he had the ring. He had the one thing Pippin probably charrished the most in the entire world. That ring, and the woman it was meant for. Well, in a way he did have Sammie. Not the way his brother had once had her, but he had her trapped in his room. She was under his spell. A few well chosen words and she had shown up at his door ready to see him. Well, his brother, but the principal seemed the same. He was curious to know why she hadn't questioned him more. Why she hadn't called Pippin on the way to confirm he was actually there. To catch him in his pile of bullshit. Then again, the entire scenario seemed a little strange without adding logic into the mix.
"I don't know where Pip is." He said truthfully, handing her the rose. Honestly, he didn't care that she had requested no romance. Once she figured it all out, that this was all about him and Pippin was just used as a pawn in his ultimate scheme, he hoped that she would appreciate what he had tried to accomplish. That she would give him a pat on the back for trying at least. Would she think he had deeper feelings for her afterwards also? Would she be flattered by the gesture? Would she laugh? Haldir's hear sank. What was wrong with him? This wasn't like him at all. He knew that he had a little too much to drink that afternoon and the whiskey in his system was running the show, but what would she think of him in the end? Haldir let out the breath he had been holding in and bit his lip nervously. He was waiting. Waiting for any indication of anger, frustration, annoyance. Anything he would normally find in Sammie's face after finding out she had been played. Any normal reaction she would have towards anything he's ever done to her. He stuck his hand into his pocket and played with the ring that sat there, Burning. It was burning a hole into the pocket of his brother's jeans, as it has always done. It was waiting, waiting to be presented to the woman it had been made for. Waiting for those four words to be spoken. Seven, if three more special words were added. He wondered as he fiddled with the small object if he should play this further. If he should take that ring and do as his brother had planned so long ago. But would it still be a game? No. It couldn't be if he did. Marriage was serious, Hallie knew that. He had sworn to never play with a girl's heart. He would play with everything else, but never their heart. Hearts were fragile, he learned this from watching his brother. Haldir shut his eyes and lowered his head, shaking it. What a mess he must be in now. What a mess he'd made.
He opened his eyes and looked back at Sammie, licking his dry lips. "Unwanted? Yes," He said, pulling his hand from his pocket, the ring in hand, but he kept it hidden. He was going to do it. He could feel the nerves washing through him. He could feel the sweat beginning to bead upon his forehead. "But necessary." He took a deep breath. "Sammie, I need to ask you something." outfit: CLICK (The ring's for later ;]) notes: Save me! The anxiety is killing me! Lol

"well if you knew it was unwanted, you shouldn't have done it, because it wasn't necessary." samantha didn't understand what this was pay back for, but it was clear that, that was what this was, his form of payback for something she did to hurt him, however she didn't know what that was. she hadn't hurt haldir, and if she had, she hadn't meant to. either way, she found it hard to believe that she had in the first place. haldir wasn't the kind of man to have real emotions, so there was nothing there to hurt, so she didn't get why he was trying to hurt her. what did she do? "well go ahead and ask so i can get going. i forgot i have a few things i need to take care of." she lied, however she didn't care. she just knew she needed to get out of there, she needed to. she couldn't keep this up any more, the fighting of the tears, it was becoming to much and she was sure there were signs that she wanted to, but she wouldn't, she wouldn't show him her weak side.[/div] hallie (kait), outfit, 835 words, sorry its horrible [/style] credit to TONY

[/style][style=width:430px; height: 300px; overflow: auto; padding: 10px; border-top: 5px solid #8d2222; border-bottom: 5px solid #8d2222; background-color: fff; text-align: justify;] What was he doing? This wasn't some game he'd come up with to screw with her. This was serious. A marriage proposal? Honestly, what was he thinking? The answer? He wasn't. He wasn't thinking. His mind was swimming in a large amount of whiskey and it was affecting him. It was effecting him more than he had originally thought. He looked at Sammie and his heart sank. Those tears. No. He was hurting her. He was hurting her by trying to be his brother, by tricking her into coming here and using him to do it. But how else would he be able to convince her to come? He couldn't think of a different way now, how could he have then? He was beginning to feel things he'd never felt before. Not only did a mass amount of guilt flood over him, but with the nerves and the rapid beating of his heart he was beginning to sweat just a little more. He looked down at his hand, the one that carried the ring and clenched his fist harder. He didn't know if he was going to be able to do this. He was afraid of what she would think. But what if, what if he really felt for her? What if he wanted more from her than just a one night stand, or a beat up mockery of a friendship? What if he wanted a chance to love her? To love her like his brother had been able to all that time ago. Maybe he never stopped feeling for her and used all those girls as a way to get rid of his aggression and sexual tension that he had built up thinking about her. He wondered if he was really doing this just out of spite or if he was really just letting out his true feelings in a bold and unexpected way.
Haldir licked his lips nervously and looked back at Sammie as sane stood before him. He could tell that she was trying to hide the tears that threatened their ill timed release. He could feel a few of his own prick at his own green orbs, but quickly blinked them away. He hated to see Sammie sad like this, he hated to see how much pain he had really caused her, and it was taking a toll on him. He just wanted to apologize to her. To show her what his mother had called "the real Haldir". The way he was a child, a kind nerdy little boy with more emotions than most boys cared to show in their entire life. Maybe that's why he was so tough now. Why he was such a jerk. Because he was afraid of feeling. He was afraid of showing people how he really felt, who he "really" was. "Please, Sammie. Take the rose." He said, as he noticed he still held the flower in his hand. Right now, he wasn't the man she had come to know. He didn't know who he was. He couldn't put a name to the face that he was now showing. He didn't even look like himself anymore. Sure, his features were all the same, and he was still a giant, but he didn't have that smug smirk on his face or looked like he wanted to sleep with you or kill you. No he looked like he was hurting. He looked nervous. He looked like he was going to cry.
Whether or not Sammie took the rose was no longer important to him. He dropped his hand, and then down onto one knee. He was going to ask her. He was going to ask her because he realized that maybe he did love her, and through all the stupid crap he's done to her, maybe she would say yes, though he found it unlikely. Haldir looked up at Sammie, and took a deep breath. "Look, this isn't fully thought out or anything, but I do have one thing to say. Samantha, I realize now that I love you. I have for a long time and I ask you to forgive whatever stupid crap I've done in the past. I know some of it might be hard to forgive, and I understand if you don't, but ultimately I must ask... Will you marry me?" There he had done it. As he had spoken, he lifted his hand and revealed the ring that his hand had concealed, holding it from the bottom between his fingers. He had no idea what she would say to him. Would she laugh? Would she say anything at all? Haldir just stared up at her as he waited for any reaction, because anything was better than nothing at this point. outfit: CLICK (The ring's for later ;]) notes: Save me! The anxiety is killing me! Lol
