[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] BUT WE ARE HEADING STRAIGHT TOWARDS THE SUN The Words: 670 Outfit HERE. The Notes these twoo!! (; Logging off of her laptop, she closed it and set it aside. She took a deep breath and laid back on her bed, smiling. No matter how shitty her day had been, just talking to Garrett made it ten times better. Now he was coming over to make her dinner? If she didn't trust him with all she had, Winnie might think it was too good to be true. But she did trust him. And it wasn't too good to be true. Garrett and Winter had been friends for a few years now. Normally it would've taken her a long time to trust anyone, but he was different. There's just something that says a guy is trusting if he kind of saves your life. Alright, sure.. she hadn't been dying, but she was pretty beat up and still needed to go to the hospital.
After "falling down the stairs" while on her way up to her apartment with her now ex-boyfriend, some tenants called 9-1-1. The EMT's arrived shortly after the calls were made. Garrett just so happened to be the first one to get to Winnie. She doesn't remember too much from that day because she was fading in and out of consciousness. Win does remember how calm and soft-spoken he was while taking care of her though. It was as if he knew how to keep her relaxed while they prepared her for transportation. Once on the ambulance away from her ex, Garrett tried to get the truth out of her. He noticed the bruises on her arms and knew there was a different story to be told. At first Win denied every accusation Garrett fired off, slowly her defenses were broken down and she explained what really happened.
Her ex had a hot temper and was easily set off. Even the most harmless words could bring on the terror. It just so happened that day that Winnie was tired and didn't feel like putting up with his rude comments to her. The split second after the words came out of her mouth she wished she could take them back. It was too late. He grabbed her arms, shaking her while spitting nasty words at her, then he let go with a little push. That push was just enough to set Winnie off balance and send her tumbling down the concrete steps. Learning the truth, Garrett asked if she wished to press charges or get a restraining order. She had to explain that those things would only make it worse. Winnie had tried both of them before, neither ever worked. If anything they just made him more hateful.
A dozen stitches and a few weeks later Winnie happened to run into Garrett at the local grocery store. They started up a conversation and he asked her how she was feeling. He said he'd thought about her a lot the last few weeks and wanted to make sure she was alright. Ever since then they've grown closer and closer. They continue learning more about each other than Winnie ever thought she would be able to do with another man. She easily considered him one of her best friends and honestly wouldn't know what to do if he wasn't in her life.
Taking a few minutes to straighten up the apartment, even though it was almost always clean she went into the kitchen and took out some of the ingredients she thought Garrett would use while making dinner. Biting her lip, standing with her hands on her hips she thought about what else they could eat. Winnie opened the fridge and noticed some lettuce and other vegetables. She took them out and grabbed a big bowl from one of the cupboards. Before she began chopping them up she took a few minutes for her to freshen up and on the way back she lit some candles. Returning to the kitchen Win grabbed a knife and began cutting the lettuce, tomatoes, and cucumbers. She tossed everything in the bowl as she waited for Garrett to arrive any minute. |

after he had finished talking to winter, he shut down his computer and took a quick shower before changing his cloths and heading out the door. he just needed to make a quick stop to the store to pick up a few things and head over to her house for dinner. he smiled to himself as he truned his jeep on and headed out of the drive away towards the main road and a few miles from the store. winter had already told him that she had some foods over at her house so he would only need to pick up a few things.
as he headed into the store he stopped by the ice cream freezer and picked some out, knowing the kind that she liked the most. he picked up a bottle of wine and a few flowers, he was sure that she would like, anything to lighter her day up. winter was a close friend to garrett and he always liked to help her out no matter what. he went through the check out and headed out of the store, to his jeep and after putting away everything he truned on the engine and started his drive towards her house. it wasn't the first time he had been there, really he had been there a few times before. at many different times, between birthdays, parties and so on, garrett had always been there ever since he had met winter. it was still fresh in his mind when he had first met her, getting the 911 call, rolling up on the scene to find a beaten and broken women, of course he had been trained as a first responder, so they always got there quicker then EMS after that day garrett had always been there for her.
if garrett hadn't been on the job, he might have given her now ex boyfriend a piece of his mind, he didn't want anything to happen to winter again like it had that day he had seen her. how could someone do something so horrible, then again garrett had lost everything before too so he knew how it felt. There was something about winter, that where ever he was around her he found he didn't have problems speakings as some other days it was a probelm. he had also made friends with her best friend and they were very close friends, garrett was willing to do anything for the both of them.
thats just the way he was. he knew how much winter worried about him before of his job and the danger of not knowing if you are going to make it out everytime to run into that building, but garrett worried about her as well, he didn't want her to worry too much. he truned the corner and pulled his jeep up infront of her house, stopping and turning off the engine. he grabbed the bag he got from the store and locked his door. He pulled his jacket close to him as he walked up the walk way towards her house. he stopped infornt ofthe dinner, and took in a breath as he knocked on the door, waiting for her to open the door and let him in.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] BUT WE ARE HEADING STRAIGHT TOWARDS THE SUN The Words: 395 Outfit HERE. The Notes love it! sorry mine's short.. After Winnie threw the bowl of fresh salad in the fridge, she turned on her stereo which just so happened to have a classical CD in it. She could be kind of old fashioned at times, but she didn’t mind. She figured it made her who she was. Of course there were those who thought she was weird, but she was trying to learn how to embrace certain parts of her that others didn’t like. It was all a part of trying to learn how to become stronger as a person. Just the exact thing Garrett and she talked about online. Smiling as she heard a knock on the door she took a deep breath and almost skipped over to it.
Opening the door she found the very handsome Garrett Matthews standing her in doorway with a grocery bag in one hand and his jacket in the other. She moved towards him to take his jacket and give him a hug that lasted probably a few seconds longer than it should have. Standing on her tippy-toes she gave his cheek a gentle kiss. Her smile never left her face as she opened the door wider and took a step back. “It’s good to see you Gar. Come on in.” She said, as she walked over to the coat tree standing a few feet away from the front door. She hung his jacket on one of the limbs and turned back to him. “How are you?” Winnie asked, trying to casually look him over.
Knowing about the fire today made her nervous for his safety. Understandably Garrett was very passionate about his job. It was something he’d always taken seriously from Winnie’s point of view. It should’ve made anyone feel safer that a guy like him was protecting the city. However, having your best friend run into burning buildings that could collapse at any moment naturally brought on worry. Realizing that he really was fine, she started to speak again. “I made us a fresh-cut salad. I can take that bag if you want.” She motioned towards the hand that still held the groceries he bought, waiting for an answer. There was a part of her that still acted as if she was with her ex. Always doing things for him was almost programmed into her brain. Sometimes Win didn’t even realize she was doing it. |

as garrett waited outside the door for winter, he was tempted to light a smoke, but he knew how much she hated the thought of him smoking, always saying how it was bad for him and he should quit. he had started after his ex-wife had left him, it was the only way he could deal with the stress, it was better then drinkinig himself away as he knew some people did when they were faced with hard ships. garrett had dealt with his pretty well, then again almost dieing does that to a person. it was one of the reason why he was always willing to help out his friends becuase he had been there once before and didn't want to see them go down that road. it sounded like nosies coming from inside the house and he looked up.
just as he looked up the door opened and lovely looking winter was standing there. he smiled as she moved closer to take his jacket and give him a hug. he held her close to him just as long as she hugged him. really he could have held her longer, to let her know that there was someone who did care about her, and would protect her from anything. he smiled and nodded his head stepping inside. "Thank you, you look beautiful as always Win", he said watching her as she hung up his jacket, it was good to see her. he had been busy with his work the last couple of days and hadn't seen her at all. he smiled again when she asked how he was."I am just peachy", he chuckled loudly and smirked, "Prefectly fine as you can see", he smiled at the last comment.
he knew that she worried all the time about his safety, and he didn't blame her. she cared alot about him and he cared about her. he knew the risks that his job had, but in the end it was worth it. he just didn't want winter to stress out about him too much, he didn't like to see her down or worried to the point it wasn't healthly. he had already saved her once from an unhealthly part of her life, he would do it again if something were to ever come up. he would never let anything happen to her again like he had seen that first day he had met her."That sounds great", he smiled, "You just sit back and relax and leave anything to me". he moved into the kitchen and put down the bag of groceries, he pulled out a few herbs and spices he had pick out, and then pulled the box of ice cream. "For later of course" , he said grining before putting it into the frezzer. "Here I got these for you", he said pulled out the bunch of red roses he had picked up while he was out, and handed them to her. garrett knew she felt like she had to help so he was sure she could find a vase or to put them in, he put the bottle of wine on the table and then went to work on making them dinner.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] BUT WE ARE HEADING STRAIGHT TOWARDS THE SUN The Words: 700 Outfit HERE. The Notes i love them soo much! hahaa. To have a man like Garrett in her life felt like such a blessing to Winter. With everything she had gone through in her life already it was nice to have a positive thrown in there. She still spoke with both of her parents often, but they were in Seattle still and she didn’t get to see them often. They didn’t really know everything that happened in Win’s life either. Sometimes she felt as if it was better if they didn’t know. She could only imagine the things they would do or say and Win didn’t need more stress in her life. As terrible as her ex was she’d forgiven him and was trying to move on. It was hard, but not impossible. Garrett made that path of recovery so much easier. She knew how much he cared about her and she had no idea where she would be if it wasn’t for him. Anything she needed help with, he was always there. She hoped that would never change either.
Feeling his arms wrap around her tiny body, she closed her eyes and savored the moment. Relearning to enjoy physical contact wasn’t a tough task for her because that was something she enjoyed in a relationship. It was something she had always wanted and she was going to try and not let her ex sour that for her. When she let go and hung up his coat, Garrett stepped in and complimented her as he always did. Thank you, you look beautiful as always Win. She could feel the blush rise on her cheeks as she looked to the floor briefly with a smile. “You’re such a charmer Garrett." She said with a little laugh. It was good to see him again and she thought just talking to him on the computer made her day better. The fact that he was actually here with her made it almost perfect.
I am just peachy. Perfectly fine as you can see. Winnie shook her head and laughed with him. She should’ve known he would’ve caught her making sure he really was okay. Sometimes it was as though he knew her better than herself did. “Yes, I can and I’m happy you are.” She said with another smile. When he commented on her making the salad and told her to relax and leave everything to him she nodded and followed him into the kitchen. Watching him pull everything out of the bag, her smile grew as she realized he bought ice cream for her. “Are you serious?! And it’s even my favorite? Strawberry with the real fruit chunks? I love you!” She said, laughing excitedly as she watched him put it in the freezer and pull a bouquet of roses out of the bag. She let out a little gasp. “Garrett.. You didn’t have to. Thank you so much! You’re the best, you know that right?” She said with a smile, taking them from him. “I’m gonna go grab a vase from the closet. Everything you need should be on the counter there.” She added, still smiling.
Winnie walked down the small hallway until she reached her linen closet, where she just so happened to keep other things then her linens. She picked a yellow vase that had little white polka dots on it and took it into the bathroom to fill it up. Unwrapping the roses she trimmed the ends so they would last a little long and arranged them in the vase. Once she finished she ventured back into the kitchen and set them on the table, in between two candles. “There. Perfect.” She said, taking a step back to admire them some more. She turned to Garrett who had already begun making dinner. The kitchen was starting to smell wonderful already. It made Win realize how hungry she was. She would’ve given Gar another hug, but she didn’t want to disturb him from cooking. She smiled as she watched him. “Do you need any help?” She asked grabbing two wine glasses from a cupboard and opening the wine bottle he brought. Winnie poured the two glasses and carried one over to him as she took a sip of her own. |

his life had been so different after he had met winter and gotten to know her. it seemed like his life got better with each day he saw that smiling face of her. every moment he spent with her seemed right almost prefect. he wasn't sure he would feel this way again about someone after his ex-wife leaving him and taking their son with her. garrett hadn't seen or spoken to his own son in three years, lillian would not let him even talk to his son saying that she didn't want her son around him, saying that he was unstable and couldn't handle it. really it had been the other way around, when the accident had happened garrett had learnt to deal with the pain and everything else that came with it but his ex-wife, she had just given up after one day and the next left without saying a word, garrett didn't even have a clue where they might be. he had helped winter when ever she needed something, and in a way she had helped him as well, rarely he found himself not able to form words or think quickly.
all in all he could have spent the whole night there with winter in his arms. he just wanted to hold her close to him and never let her go, but of course he had to come inside and start making the wonderful dinner he had proimsed her over thier IM. he grinned at her comment, "Aren't I always?" he said with a light chuckle as he came into her house from outside. winter always looked beautiful, no matter what she wore, it was just another thing that made her well winter. garrett had always tryed to get her to be herself that she didn't need to change who she was. sometimes just talking to winter on the computer wasn't enough for garrett he had to come and make sure she was ok, and of course to show her that he was allright.
he smiled when she said she was happy he was allright. he knew how much winter worried about him, his job was always dangours and he could remember all the time that winter had phoned him or IM him after hearing or seeing something on the news. today it had been the building fire, tomorrow well who knew what tomorrow could bring. you never knew what type of thing you were rushing into till it happened. he wanted winter to relax tonight, it was one of the reasons why he had said he would come over and cook her dinner. he couldn't help but grin wide as she saw that he had brought her favorite ice cream with him. well she had said she wanted ice cream and of course garrett knowing which one she liked the most couldn't just not pick it up. he chuckled along with her, "I know how much you love it", anything to make winter happy really, if he had to buy strawberry ice cream with real fruit chucks every single day just to see that smile he would. he felt he need to get her flowers, it was just another thing to cheer her up, make her smile, laugh even, really garrett didn't have to do all these things but he wanted to. "It's my pleasure" , he said when she thanked him for the flowers. "I do", he said simply smiling at her and nodding as she went to get a vase.
while she went to get the vase for the flowers he started on making them dinner. his grandmother had always been big on cooking when he was younger, always sawing the young boy different foods and flavours. and when he had joined the fire station he found himself making his fellow firefighters dinner on parcties nights. he took out a frying pan and started to grill the chicken, putting on spices here and there. he truned down the heat and started work on the angel hair pasta she had on the counter, boiling the pot and watching the pasta as he cooked. he could hear her coming back into the kitchen with a vase and setting the flowers down in them, he smiled and finished up with the few things he need in order for the food to he finished. "It's all most done, could grab the salad and get the table ready". by the time winter got out the plates and everything the food would be ready to eat. "Thanks", he spoke when she brought over a wine glass he took a sip and smiled at her.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] BUT WE ARE HEADING STRAIGHT TOWARDS THE SUN The Words: 638 Outfit HERE. The Notes (: As Winter watched Garrett cook their dinner she began thinking back on her past. The dark times when she thought she would never find someone who truly cared about her, of course excluding her parents. She remembered the harsh words and cold gestures she was given, not only by her ex, but also her peers. Her ex promised to protect her and take care of her. Sure he fended off a lot of the kids who were bullying her, but it seemed to hurt her even more once he started doing the same things they were. She never asked him why he was doing what he was doing out of fear. She didn’t want to know what he would do if the question upset him. At one point Winter began believing that she deserved nothing better than him.
That day when she met Garrett, she felt a tiny ounce of hope. That sliver of light showed her that there really were good people out there. It was all just enough to get her away from her ex. As Win’s friendship with Garrett grew she knew that he was different than anyone else she had met. When he said he would help and protect her, he meant it and Winter believed him 110%. Watching Gar go from cooking the chicken to the pasta brought on some flashbacks. She bit her lip and gripped her glass a little more tight as she recalled one of the awful nights she spent with her ex.
It was a Tuesday, how she remembered that she had no idea. But they were having a late dinner. Her ex wasn’t in the best of moods, but Winnie was trying her hardest to keep the peace. There was something that set him off.. There always was, but tonight Win couldn’t call that back. Whatever happened resulted in yelling and things being thrown across the kitchen. They lost a couple of plates and a pan was dented that night. Winter was making those little shell pasta. She remembers because as she was draining the boiling hot water in the sink he grabbed her and she missed the sink. The water spilled over and burned her ankle and foot. The shells were all over the floor. He hadn’t been touched by the water, but became even angrier that she spilled their dinner. Not a single trace of care radiated off of him, even though she was crying in pain as her foot swelled and became red and blistered. After more screaming and yelling, pushing and grabbing he finally left in his rage. All Winter could do was sink to the floor and cry as she began cleaning up the mess. She treated her foot as best as she could, but knew there would be a scar there forever.
It's all most done, could you grab the salad and get the table ready? Garrett’s voice brought her back to the present and she took a sip of wine and nodded. “Yes, of course.” She said, looking down as she placed her glass on the table and moved towards the cupboards. She grabbed two plates and two bowls. Then she opened one of the drawers and took out two forks and two knives, moving back to the table. Winnie set up the table, adding napkins and the salad along with French and Ranch dressing. The house smelled magnificent by now and Win’s stomach was starting to beg for the food. “It smells delicious Gar.” She said with a little chuckle. After grabbing the little cork plates that protected the table from the heat of the pans, she placed them on the table and sat down with a small smile. She drank some more of her wine, waiting for Garrett to bring the food over to the table and join her. |

it had been hard growing up for garrett when he was younger, having a mother who died during child birth and a father who walked out on him before he could even remember who he was. in fact garrett had no clue who his father was nor did he really want to met the man if he was still out there somewhere. his grandparents on his mother's side had taken the little boy and raised him all his life. his grandparents were the only parents he knew. he remembered being called names at school becuase he didn't have a normal family as they called it, but garrett really didn't care he wasn't the cool guy in school, but he was the type to have lots of friends around him becuase he was a caring guy and looked out for those he did care about. look where that got him, he had cared for his ex-wife and she left him without a second thought and took their son with her and wont let garrett even see him nor even speak to the kid.
he had been a mess after that, between her leaving him with nothing and the accident he was looking for a fresh start and a new way of life. things had gotten better and had changed when he met winter, she was someone he would protect with his life. he trusted her, cared for her and he knew that she felt the same way, he knew if something ever happened to him she wouldn't run out like his ex-wife had did, she would be there for him no matter what just like he was always there for him. the accident had left him in pieces, he couldn't remember names, faces, dates and so on. it had taken him along time to even get use to looking at his own face in the mirroir, all these people around him visiting, he couldn't even remember who they were, of course his ex-wife hadn't liked that, she thought he would be like that forever and she couldn't handle taking care of him.
so the easy way out in her mind had been to leave garrett with nothing and take their child with her. the fact that he couldn't even speak to his son pissed garrett off, everytime he had gone down to the poilce station and had a buddy of his look up her name, she had either changed it again or moved some where either. garrett prayed one day he would be able to have his son come here and live with him, he knew he would love it here and he was sure his son would love winter just as much as he did. he smiled as he turned off the stove and stired the pasta one more time before turning that side off as well. he watched her set the table. he smiled again when she said it smelled delicious. "I am glad" , he said bringing over the pan with the chicken, he set it down on the table under the cork plates then he went back for the pasta and brought that over before grabbing his wine glasses and walking over, "Enjoy" he said before he sat down at the table and started to fill his plate with the wonderful different foods that were in front of him. "How was your day", he asked taking a sip of his wine wanted to know how her day was and that she was allright.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] BUT WE ARE HEADING STRAIGHT TOWARDS THE SUN The Words: 598 Outfit HERE. The Notes hope this is ok. (: Even after Garrett and Winter first met, she noticed something genuine in him. He was her breath of fresh air. They’ve helped each other through their hard times. As much as Garrett is there for Winnie when she is dealing with her ex, Win is there for Garrett when he has setbacks because of his accident. At first Winnie was reluctant to bring anything about his memory problems up. She didn’t know how he’d take it and if he’d be offended. She should’ve known better. With the way Garrett was, he’d never get upset with her. Even if he did seem a little hesitant at first, the two began remembering. They started with dates and important people in history. Since Winnie was a librarian, it was easy for her to grab a different book each night after work. They’d study and relearn everything they already knew from their childhood years. Not only did it help Garrett, it refreshed Winter’s mind too. It kept them active and engaged; soon Winnie realized Garrett was remembering things on his own. It was such an amazing feeling to watch him progress so much in so little time.
While learning the history of the world, Winnie soon started to learn about Garrett’s personal past as well. She learned of his wife and son. Even though she had never met his wife and really wasn’t one to judge people easily, Winter didn’t find many things to like about his ex. As hard as it was for her to be angry at someone she had never met, this lady almost made it easy. Forbidding a father, who wanted to be actively involved in his son’s life, from having any contact with the child was absolute ludicrous. How anyone had the nerve to do such a thing as leave Garrett, one of the most caring people on the planet, just because of an accident made no sense whatsoever to Winnie. She kept her hopes up though, anticipating the day Garrett would finally be able to see his son again. It would be nice for her to actually meet him as well. Win knew how fond Gar was of his son, as he should be. The torment placed on him by his ex was uncalled for. He didn’t need that, especially after everything he’d been through when the accident happened.
As she watched Garrett bring the food over, she thought about jumping up and helping. After taking another second to think about it, she decided to just sit and let Garrett take care of everything. She smiled up at him as he placed the chicken and pasta on the table. Enjoy. As Garrett began to fill his plate with the pasta and chicken, Winter couldn’t help herself and she filled both of their salad bowls before piling the noodles and chicken on her own plate. Win started to cut up her meat and put some dressing on her salad while Gar asked how her day was. “It’s been alright, I can’t complain too much. Of course this is the perfect ending to the day. As it always is whenever you come over. How was yours?” She added with a smile before taking a few bites of dinner. As she expected, it was phenomenal. Garrett had always been an amazing cook. Win felt privileged to be one of his favorite people to entertain with dinners and lunches, sometimes even breakfasts. “Mmmm! Garrett this is so good. I love it, I only wish I could cook food that tastes this incredible.” She said, taking a few sips of wine. |

growing up with out parents garrett had learned everything from his grandparents, his grandmother showed him how to cook and do many things on his own, while other little boys were out playing soccer or football garrett could be found inside learning about the many different types of food out there, which spices to use and when not to use them the list went on. during the evenings after he would come home from school his grandfather would take him out to the shed and show the boy how to fix things and how to treat a women right. his grandparents had been happy married for a very long time before they passed on. from what garrett knew his own parents had a rocky marriage. its funny how his marriage ended before really it had became. when he had first met lillian she had been a few years older than he had been, and they had met during a class trip to the city. garrett always loved going into the city to see the different sites. They had grown close, even with the age difference. by the time highschool was over and his grandparents had died garrett had no where to live so lillian had moved out of her parents house and they got a place together. one thing lead to another, and when garrett found out about the baby on the way he was little shocked at frist but accpeted his role as father.
lillian's family wanted them to get married and well they did. after that garrett went out and got a job as a firefighter. it was dangerous work but it paided the bills becuase lillian didn't want to take money from her parents so garrett was always out working shifts and even taking some later shifts just to make up the money. there were times when garrett just wanted to get out, but he had a role to do and he wasn't going to walk away from it. funny how lillian had walked away as soon as the accident happened. when he had met win, he hadn't really wanted her to know about the 'troubles' he had sometimes with his merony. there were times when he couldn't think his mind would go blank or he couldn't speak right. these epsiodes were very few and far but sometimes they did happen. but he had soon found that winter wasn't going to leave him, that she was going to stay around and help him just like he had helped her. Win had been a great helped during those few years where so much was missing had he was thank ful for that. it had been three years, since he had either talked or seen his son. lillian was very good had moving from one place to another, she had her familes money to use off of. when she had left garrett, she had left him with nothing, she had said she didn't want there son to be around a father who acted like a child. she was scared that the money wouldn't be coming in, that garrett may never work again becuase, so insteed of working on the problem she just took the easy way out.
the whole point of coming over to win's tonight, was to see her, and to relax after busy day. garrrett always like seeing winter after he had been to a terrible accident or another type of call out. it made him love the little things in life and it put his mind to rest when he saw that smile of hers and knowing that someone cared for you, and that win was safe and sound. he took a sip of his wine after filling his plate with the food and took a couple of bites of the pasta before looking up to listen to win as she told him about her day. "I am glad you had a good day, my pleasure anything I can do to make your day just that better". he said smiling anything to make winter happy and mae her feel better or make her day just that more lovely. "Mine was good, pretty quiet for the morning, and just the fire this afternoon". he knew it worried win every second he was out on a call out, thats why he had left his pager in his jacket pocket. this was his night with win and nothing was coming to come between it. he chuckled lightly and smiled, "Good, as long as you like it, don't worry I'll teach you, next time you can make dinner", he said while smiling and eating a piece of the chicken. winter could do anything if she put her mind to it and had someone behind her 100% percent. he loved cooking for win, no matter what it might be, lunch dinner or breakfasts, sometimes he would even come into her work and bring something he had made for her.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] BUT WE ARE HEADING STRAIGHT TOWARDS THE SUN The Words: 829 Outfit HERE. The Notes oh mann. (: As Winter continued eating, her mind wandered. She watched Garrett’s facial expressions and paid special attention to every time he smiled. It pleased her to know that he was happy to be here. He wasn’t forcing himself to be nice, he didn’t pity her. He just really honestly liked her. And Winter really liked him. Sometimes more than she probably should. During those times she felt as though she should repress her feelings, try and block them out. Who would want to ruin such a beautiful friendship that was cherished by both parties involved? If Win were to ever let on that she wanted more out of the relationship than just friendship, she feared that Garrett would start to distance himself. As nice as he was, Winter believed he would let her down as gently as he possibly could. That didn’t mean he would stick around though. If he knew how she felt and he didn’t feel the same way, he would understand how much it would hurt her to find out the truth. To even think about hurting Win would obviously make him feel terrible. So terrible that in trying to not hurt her, he would do the exact opposite. Of course she didn’t know for a fact that all of that would ever happen. Even if he did have the same feelings, she couldn’t bear the thought of losing him if he didn’t. As long as that window of chance was open, Winnie would avoid the situation at all costs. She couldn’t afford to lose Garrett.
Taking a few bites of her salad and then a few more sips of wine, she listened intently to Garrett’s answer. I am glad you had a good day. My pleasure, anything I can do to make your day just that much better. Mine was good, pretty quiet for the morning, and just the fire this afternoon. With those words Win got the goose bumps. She tried to shake it off. It was already established that Garrett was unharmed from today’s incident. But still, Winnie couldn’t help herself. She cared so much for the man sitting across from her. He didn’t deserve to go through any more tragedies in his life. He was already tried with one near death experience, he didn’t need another. There were days and nights that Winter wished he would change his career, but they both knew that would almost never happen. They did have a system set up though. If Winter knew about a fire or emergency situation that Garrett would’ve been sent to, she would wait for a phone call or text. If she didn’t get one after a certain amount of time she would try and contact him. Of course Win had to be understanding about it. She knew that there could be more than one emergency in a day, so he might not have time. Even though at the moment she received that call or text it relaxed her, that feeling was only temporary. Her nerves were rarely ever settled because she knew he could be called at any spur of the moment. Knowing that he was risking his life every time he left for work drove her crazy. That attachment and anxiety came from fear of losing him. She honestly didn’t know what she would do if anything happened to him.
A couple sips of wine and bites of food later, Win was grabbing the wine bottle and refilling her glass. She took the liberty to refill Garrett’s as well. She laughed, putting the bottle back down. Good, as long as you like it. Don't worry I'll teach you, next time you can make dinner. She shook her head, still laughing. “Gar, I don’t want either of us to starve. I’ll let you stick with the cooking. You’re so good at it, why screw it up by adding me into the equation?” She asked with a smile. Winnie considered herself lucky to have him obviously. He just treated her so nice and was always polite and thoughtful. There were so many traits she loved about Garrett and so many examples to back them up.
She finished her salad as a crack of thunder shook the house. Win jumped a little and she noticed the sound of rainfall for the first time tonight. It started off soft, but soon became louder, sounding as if it were pouring outside. She looked out the nearest window without getting out of her seat. It was already dark out, which was expected. The bright strikes of lightning lit up the sky and that’s when Win could see how hard it was raining. What a storm it was. At least Garrett wouldn’t be leaving until much later. Of course if the storm didn’t ease up he would just have to spend the night. Winnie didn’t see one problem with that. Not one at all. She smiled as she finished her plate of chicken parmesan and angel hair pasta. |

did he ever think that his friendship with win would go farther than just friends, well only time could tell. did he think about it? yes there were times he did think about if it ever went that way. he wasn't sure if win was ready for something like that again after dealing half of her life with her ex-boyfriend, and him spending those years with his ex-wife. even though win was nothing by far like his ex-wife garrett did now if he could think about that right now. ok so he did think about it all the time really. but did she feel the same way. his feelings were all over the place, he cared so deeply for this women so why could tell her so. it was like something deep down was stopping him from expressing his true feelings. he allready knew win wouldn't leave him like lillian had, she was so different and thats what had made him fall in love all over again, and this time it was true love he could feel it deep down in his bones. she was the reason he went on fighting each day, she was the reason he made it out of every burning building, make it back from every accident scene he went too, she was the reason he keep breathing. why couldn't he just tell her these things, he didn't want to put all of these feelings on her right now, but some days he just couldn't go on if he didn't see her smiling face. he didn't want to hurt her by dump all of this on her now, and he didn't want to ruin their friendship if she didn't have the same feelings towards him.
after he finished telling her about his day he went to finishing his pasta as his eyes watched her. he could see the goose bumps, he knew she was worried. he knew she worried every single day, garrett always let win know what was going on, so many times he had called or text her letting her know that he was alright and not to worry, but no matter how many times he told her not to worry she would still do it. it was becuase they cared for eachother so much. garrett cared just as much about win as she did about him. he didn't know what he would do if something happened to her, and he made sure he always knew where she was and what she was doing just in case her ex thought about coming around. garrett had made a proimse that day they had first met to protect her no matter what and he wasn't abou to let her down on that proimse he would always protect her and be there for her no matter what it was. if her ex even darned to show his face around here and even think about hurting win he would be answering to garrett thats for sure. becuase she did worry so much he had left his pager in his jacket pocket becuase if it went off he knew she wouldn't him to leave, so he had left it there, if there was a call there were others at the station that could handle it. this was his night with win and he wasn't about to let anything get in the way of that.
he smiled when she came over and refilled his glass of wine, he took a sip and had a few bites of his salad when she started laughing and he looked up to listen. he shook his head, "We wont starve, trust me. I have faith in you and know you can do it", he said smiling. Win could do anything she wanted to do in the world if she put her mind to it and had someone that would be behind her, pushing her along and giving her words that would help her beleive in her. garrett would always help win with what ever she needed, and he wanted to show her that she could do anything, even if it was as simple as making a prefect meal. there was really no trick to the way garrett cooked his food, it was always made with hard work and love. win could do the same thing and garrett would show her the way, guide her through the strom.
he truned his head when he heard the crack of thunder and looked over at her, "You ok?" , he said he knew sometimes loud noises like that scared her alittle, there was a part of him that wanted to get up from his chair and hold her close tell her that it was alright and that it was just thunder, but he stayed in his seat. then the rain started to pound outside and he looked out the window to see it coming down pretty hard. "Guess I am staying alittle longer.." , he said with a smile on his face and chuckled looking at her. he didn't have any probelms spending any longer amount of time at win's, heck if he had to stay over night till the strom pasted he would, he had no probelm and he was sure she didn't either. he smiled and got up from his chair, having finished his dinner and could see she had too. "Let me get that for you", he said offering to take her plate to the sink and wash the dishes for her.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] BUT WE ARE HEADING STRAIGHT TOWARDS THE SUN The Words: 892 Outfit HERE. The Notes d'aww.. No matter what she was doing or who she was with, her ex was always in the back of her mind. It wasn’t what she wanted or needed, but it still happened. The trauma he caused Win to experience was beyond incomprehensible. He haunted her life still, even if she hadn’t seen or heard from him in months. There were days when thoughts and memories of him would take complete control of her mind. Those were some of the worst days she had. Being around Garrett helped suppress those negatives, but sometimes when she would lose herself and he was there, the only thing he would do is comfort her. Garrett never yelled or threatened her. Yet, Winter still felt embarrassed by it. Shouldn’t she have been able to let go by now? Shouldn’t she have moved on and forgotten by now? The answer for Win was no. After everything her ex did, it would follow her for the rest of her existence. There was a part of Win that was still forgiving to this guy. For what reasons, Winnie had none that she could think of. It was just in her nature to be the nice, caring girl who always forgave anyone who ever did her harm. Still, no matter how many times she had forgiven her ex Gar still wouldn’t chastise her. Sure he made his displeasure apparent, but he let her make her own decisions. Win felt safe with Garrett.
We won’t starve, trust me. I have faith in you and know you can do it. Having no one but your parents believe in you while you were growing up could give anyone pretty low self-esteem. Add in bullying and an abusive boyfriend and that self-esteem goes down the toilet completely. To have someone who actually wanted her to succeed in everything she tried and compelled her to experience new things was intimidating. Intimidating but refreshing at the same time. Being pushed outside of her comfort zone wasn’t the best feeling in the world. However, Garrett would always be standing right behind her during each of these new adventures. That made it more bearable. Knowing that someone believed in her so much made her feel the love she had been searching for. Winnie bit her lip and then smiled. “I know you do. We could give it a shot I guess.” She said, thinking about how fun it actually could be. “Never hurts to try, right?” Win added, still smiling.
You ok? Winter had hoped Garrett hadn’t seen her jump at the sounds of the storm. She shook her head. “No, I’ll be fine.” She said, biting her lip as she looked out the window again. The anxiety she felt was never fun, especially when she didn’t want anyone to see. She wanted so bad to be able to control it and stay calm when little things happened. Unfortunately she just couldn’t find a way. Winnie had tried seeing doctors and therapists, but nothing worked. There were some therapy sessions that even made things worse. She refused to even try medications. It wasn’t worth it to her. Winter didn’t want to lose herself because some drugs claimed to make things better. It was a lose-lose situation for her at times. The only thing that seemed to help was having Garrett in her life; though there were still times when that wasn’t enough. Even though she knew she shouldn’t be embarrassed, she still was. Her hands found themselves playing with the napkin in her lap.
Guess I am staying a little longer.. His calm voice and laughter helped to bring her back a little bit. She smiled and nodded. “You’re welcome as long as you want. That goes for any time you wish. You should know that by now.” Her voice was soft and she was smiling. She honestly hoped he would end up staying the night. Of course, she couldn’t let him know this. The whole ‘he might not feel the same way’ situation popped into her head again. Let me get that for you. Winter stood up as Garrett took the dirty dishes to the sink and began washing them. “Thanks Gar, it was really good. While you wash those, I’m going to set up a movie for us to watch. Do you have any special requests?” She asked, pushing in the chairs, wiping down the table, and refilling their glasses again.
Winter moved into the living room, waiting for an answer as she set up her entertainment center. Turning on the TV she switched it over to TV/Video mode and then turned on her DVD player. She stood there, looking at her assortment of movies. Win had a good collection of different genres. Of course there were hardly any horror movies, but the rest ranged from action and chick flicks to drama and comedies, there were some old classics and even some Disney thrown in the mix as well. Thinking about it, Winter really didn’t have a favorite movie. There were so many to choose from and it was hard to narrow it down to just one. She crossed her arms and began chewing on the inside of her cheek, reading the movie titles to herself. Win was trying to decide what she wanted to watch, while thinking about what Garrett would want to watch as well. |

what win had gone through her whole life made garrett's little accident nothing in his mind. she had been through so much pain and hate, he knew it would never leave her, it would be part of her life now and garrett didn't mind. he wasn't going anywhere, he would stay with win no matter what she went through. he felt like he should be going something more, and even sometimes when she had her off days, garrett felt helpless. he hated feelings helpness sometimes. he understood that sometimes like this would never go away, that it was not something to just push under the bus, there was nothing worse then keeping your feelins bottled up. he just hoped win knew that if she ever needed to talk to him about anything he was there. garrett couldn't just forgive her ex for what he had done to this wonderful women, and he knew that win did forgive her ex, garrett had to respect that. they were too diffferent people. garrett's accident still haunted his life. there were some moments he would close his eyes to sleep and wake up at 3 in the morning breathing heavy and drowned in sweat. there were moments when just seeing flames or fire that set off the 'epsiodes', just little things like that. he tried everything to not even think about that day but it happened and when it did sometimes he had no control over what happened to his body or his mind.
his whole life garrett had his grandparents behind him in everything that he did. when they had died lillian had been the one there for him, and when she left garrett was left alone till he met winter and then that part of his life started over again. he didn't want to force win do anything she didn't want to and after thinking about it after what he had just said. if she really didn't want to try cooking, or want him to teach her then that was her choice. he didn't want to hurt win, the thought of even thinking about that ripped him to the core, he would be beside himself if he ever hate her in anyway. he would never hate her the way her ex had, that was un speakable, and garrett would never get that low, but sometimes he was afarid he might say something or seem like he was pushing win, and hate her that way. he wouldn't be able to handle himself if he ever did that to her, he cared too much about her to even think about some terrible acts. she knew that garrett believed in her no matter what she did, even if was the littlest of things and win thought nothing of them, garrett would always say she did a great job, and be been her. he was there to catch her when she fell, and he was the one to say get back right up on that horse and try again. "Of course if you don't feel comfortable then we don't have to". he said smiling warmly, he wanted her to know that if she really and truely didn't want to do it then he would understand. "Right", he said grinning the thought of win there beside him in the kicthen cooking brought a smile onto his face, it would be prefect to share something he cared about with someone he also cared deeply about.
he just nodded when she said she would be fine. but she wasn't ok, and that was a probelm for garrett. even though she said she would be fine, garrett still felt like he should comfort her somehow, but he didn't want to push it. sometimes he just had to step back as hard as it was, he had to repect that win didn't need help with every single thing in her life and she needed sometime to spread her own wings and fly, as his grandmother would say. he knew also that win wanted to thing on her own and without help. even with garrett's epsiodes he tried his best to just let them work out on there own, but it came down to the point where garrett had to go to the doctors and get medication for it. he knew win refused to use any type of drugs, but some night garrett just couldn't handle the pain, the night terror's and the pain that came from his head. it was like his brain was reliving the pain from the accident. some mornings he would wake up to burning coming from the scar left from the piece of metal. it came from the top right of his head at the back, down along on an angle, down across the skin close to his ear and finished half on his cheek, close to the back where the ear was. when garrett had a bread it was hard to see, but when he was clean shaved you could see the faint pink line. it was just another reminder.
he had planed on staying long at win's. he wasn't sure if she wanted him to stay longer then that. garrett had been to win's house many times, from alone times like these, to parties with many other friends and so on, but garrett had never stayed the night. really he wanted to say the night, becuase he knew he might not get another chance to spend this much time with win in the next couple of days, becuase he was sure that there would be a busy day at the fire station tomorrow. some days garrett was getting off a 8 hour shift to come back to the fire station and have to pull another shift and wouldn't be done till 24 hours later. he smiled, "I'll remember that", he said as he took her dishes and started to work on washing them. "Thats all that matters", he said smiling, as long as win liked it then he was set. he shook his head, "Nope, what ever you pick will be fine".
he watched her leave the kitchen and go into the living room to set up everything to watch a movie. while she was doing that, garrett finished up washing the dishes, he cleaned up the kitchen, wiped it all down and then dryed and put all the dishes away. what ever movie winter picke would be good for garrett, he liked all types of movies. when he finished in the kicthen he grabbed there wine glasses and sat them down on the coffee table in the living room. he looked over at all the movies, some bringing back times he would watch with his son, and some were fuzzy to him. he was sure that he had seen some of them but becuase of the accident it had left him losing some of those key moment in his life. sometimes it was so hard just to pick one movie to watch when you had so many to choice from. he smiled and sat down on the couch waiting for the movie choice to be picked and he took a sip of his wine, he was sure that win would pick a great movie to watch and if he had to help make a choice he would gladly help.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, background-color: dddddd; border: #cccccc solid 8px; width: 420px; padding: 15 5 15 5px;] BUT WE ARE HEADING STRAIGHT TOWARDS THE SUN The Words: 1,196 Outfit HERE. The Notes blehh..sorry if it sucks. Along with her anxiety, Win also experience frustration often in her life. She kept it well hidden, because others knowing about it would make it even worse. The fact that she could not move on from her previous part of life made her miserable. Everything she wanted to do was affected by it. Fear of failure was a big part of it. Of course it didn’t help that people felt they needed to watch everything they said and did around her. It pissed her off even more when they would do something and she would have a negative reaction. It wasn’t their fault she was like this; it wasn’t even her own fault. Still it bothered her. Her frustrations weren’t because of others, they were because of her. She wished she could just be fine with normal, everyday routines.
Winnie knew that Garrett constantly modified the words he used and his tone of voice. He tried not to make sudden movements around her or upset her in any way. He never forced her to do anything, which made her have to decide whether to do things or not. She didn’t want to disappoint him or make him feel terrible. She tried to be more outgoing, but it was hard. Sometimes it even seemed as though he was afraid to touch her. She understood exactly why he took all of these precautions and appreciated it. Still, it hurt inside. Why did this have to happen to her? Win only wished there were something to help her get better. She wanted him to act normal around her, but she knew he was trying his damned best to. He wanted the best for her and tried to treat her as if nothing was wrong. She could still tell that he was being careful around her. This is why she kept it from him. She didn’t want to hurt him, just like he didn’t want to hurt her.
Winter understood why Garrett hated her ex so much, he was the reason she was like this. At times she would become upset with what he did in the past. Those moments didn’t last too long though. She didn’t understand her need to forgive. Especially him.. He was the last person who deserved to be forgiven, but he was normally the first to receive it. She should’ve hated him with every ounce of her being, but she just couldn’t. In the past she tried holding her ground. Win had pressed charges a few times and even had a few restraining orders put on her ex. Nothing worked and he always found a way to weasel his way back into her life. With Garrett not wanting to hurt her, it wasn’t as restricting to let her ex back in as it should’ve been. Even though they both knew that letting him back would only make things worse, Gar never told Win what to do with her life. He wanted her to make her own decisions and would never force her to do anything she didn’t want to do. The words he spoke next made that clear. Of course if you don't feel comfortable then we don't have to. The smile on his face made it apparent that he would be content with whatever choice she made. Shaking her head, Winter looked down with a little smile. “I’ll be okay. I think it might be fun.” She added, biting her lip. At least Garrett was a fire fighter, that way if she started a fire he’d know what to do. She let out a little laugh and caught his smile once more which made her smile in turn.
When Winter told Garrett that she’d be okay she knew immediately that he wasn’t buying it. Sometimes he was so good at reading her. Something told Win that he wanted to help her and comfort her but couldn’t. He was holding back again. She tried to push it from her mind, trying hard not to take it personally. Winnie knew how much he was hurting because he felt helpless. That took her anger and put it to rest. It wasn’t fair to either of them. So much pain, but so much love. It was overwhelming at times. Win sighed as she watched him begin to wash the dishes. A part of her just wanted to go up to him and wrap her arms around his waist and hold him. That way they could comfort each other. She didn’t though; instead she flipped her music off and got ready to pop in a movie.
When Garrett said he didn’t have anything specific in mind she bit her lip, smiling as she rolled her eyes. Win knew that Gar couldn’t remember seeing some of the movies that were sitting on her shelves. She tried to recall which ones he really enjoyed and imagined which ones he would’ve liked before the accident. Deciding to act on faith, Winnie randomly picked on from the shelves and looked at it. Avatar. She smiled. This was movie she enjoyed, although she couldn’t remember if Garrett had seen it or not. Plus it was a longer movie which meant he would stay later. “This one?” She asked, turning around and showing it to him as he sat down and placed her wine glass on the coffee table. Seeing Gar sit down and take another drink of his wine made Winter smile. He looked as though he belonged here. It was almost as if this was just a regular night for the two of them. Sure it was when he came to visit. But something about tonight didn’t feel like a visit. To Winnie it felt like they would watch the movie cuddled up on the couch and then once it was over they’d both go into her room, eventually falling asleep in her bed. Of course she wasn’t even sure how long he really would stay. Win figured the wine was starting to affect her thinking. She’d already finished a few glasses, but attempted to shake that feeling off.
Smiling as she waited for an answer, Winnie began to think about how long Garrett really would be here. There was no problem with him spending the night, but she didn’t know how comfortable Gar would be if she offered. She didn’t want it leading to any awkwardness. What if he expected to sleep on the couch? What if he didn’t want to sleep in the same bed with her? Or what if he didn’t even want to spend the night? She didn’t even know if he had to work in the morning. That reminded her to use her manners and not be so rude. “Do you have work in the morning? I’m so sorry, I didn’t even ask. I don’t want you to be exhausted on the job.” She said, still holding the DVD in her hand. The storm was still raging outside, but that didn’t mean they had to stay up. If Garrett wanted to rest while he waited for the rain to ease up instead of watching the movie, Winnie would understand. She bit her lip again, waiting for an answer. |
