Dominic Everdeen was most definitely a lone wolf...he had been all his life. He didn't hold anything against his fellow islanders, really, but was rather frustrated with their current situation. He hid his emotions very well, but the fact that he had been thrown into a situation with little control was starting to do his head in. Yes, he was a survivor and knew how to keep himself alive, but the thought of connecting with the other islanders and having someone else to protect scared the living daylights out of him. He never had to look after anyone but himself before, not in the sense of feeling and acting on compassion for selfless reasons.
As the sun scorched in the sky, creating the humidity that one would find on a tropical island, Dominic found himself in the middle of the jungle sitting on the branch of a tree as he picked the ripe fruit, dangling among the leaves. Despite the potential dangers of the island, Dominic actually felt as though he could let down his emotional walls when he was away from the camp, which took the pressure off a bit. After collecting a few more pieces of fruit, he tossed them to the jungle floor and climbed down, taking his shirt off before gathering the fruit in it. He began to make his way through the jungle, back towards camp, but paused when he heard the rushing noise of the waterfall. After taking a good look at the sweat that laced his body, going to the waterfall for a swim now became more than a consideration. Without a second thought, he changed his route, gaining closer and closer to the cool water that promised to ease some of his discomfort.
Dominic was about to burst through the trees, before he slunk back into the shade when he saw that someone else had the same idea as he did...and she was skinny dipping. Dominic identified the young woman as 'Elizabeth' and she too lived at the camp among the other islanders. Dominic had briefly witnessed the back of her naked form before she slid into the water. For a moment or two Dominic was in awe. It had been far too long since he had been with a woman and even Dominic couldn't deny to himself that Elizabeth was beautiful. He contemplated going back to camp, but decided against it, he had come to the waterfall for a good reason after all. He wasn't about to go back to the beach to bathe in the ocean again. So with that decision made, Dominic moved through the trees with stealth and out into the opening in which the waterfall rested where he placed the fruit he was carrying on a nearby rock. "Is the water refreshing?" He announced his presence, a small smirk curving onto his lips as he stood up straight.

"a lot better than the beach, ill admit it. take it your going to join me, dominic is it?" elizabeth knew the man from camp, but not well enough. they had only spoken a few times and only about things that needed to be done to help everyone get by. she wondered if he too would be naked in his swim and knew deep down he probably would. after all, at this point in time what was the point of having a dip with all of your cloths? "so what brings you out here this far?" elizabeth called as she started to swim away. he might have been joining her in the same pool of water and she might allow for some small talk, but she wasn't looking to make a friend or get close to anyone. she liked being alone, she felt it helped her survive. While Dominic mostly enjoyed his own company on the island, he still liked to be involved with the decisions and functionality of their camp to some extent. A sense of control was hard to find on the island, so he had to settle gaining some security from the little things. Whether that was gathering fruit, hunting, organizing a roster to keep a look out or insuring the fire kept on burning (or whatever it may be), he used these tasks as a way to trick himself into thinking that he actually had control over the situation he found himself stuck in. He wasn't one to obnoxiously boss others around, but if he had a strong opinion about something, he made sure it was heard...unless he considered speaking up in certain situations to be pointless.
As Dominic caught Elizabeth's attention, he was silently impressed by her calm reaction to his arrival. Most women would have screamed obscenities at him, announcing him as a pervert. Dominic was really quite the gentleman. Of course, he had his desires and fantasies like any other man, the difference was that he wasn't desperate. He appreciated a woman who respected herself and who didn't throw herself at him. Easy women were no fun...he enjoyed a challenge.
Even though Dominic appeared calm and collected, a playful glint lingered in his eyes as he felt a hint of amusement over the strange situation he found himself in. He nodded in confirmation when Elizabeth double checked his name. "Yes, I will be joining you. Unless you have any protests, Elizabeth?" Dominic replied politely, emphasizing the fact that he had taken note of her name and remembered it. In fact, he took note of all of the islander's names and placed it with their faces during the first week of his time on the island. Analyzing a situation and the people within it was what a part of his job as a hitman because it decreased the amount of potential surprises that could come his way.
Dominic had every intention to get into the water whether she liked it or not, he was merely following the formalities that might have been required in a situation like this one. Besides, he was a gentleman after all. As Elizabeth swam away, Dominic took it as an opportunity to remove the rest of his clothing. His shirt was already removed, so he took his shoes and socks off first, followed by his jeans and finally his briefs before taking his naked form to the edge of the lagoon. He then eased his way into the cool water, feeling a sense of relief as it washed the grime from his skin. "I was picking fruit in the jungle. Most of the trees close to our camp are picked clean." He answered her question simply once in the water. "And you?" he questioned as he started to float casually in the water. There was something about being away from the camp that actually caused Dominic to tolerate small talk. However, he suspected it was mainly to do with his current company. Elizabeth was never in his face at camp and tended to keep to herself on a similar level as he did, which oddly made him curious about her. In Dominic's opinion, curiosity was a very dangerous thing to mess with...

"no, your welcome to join me. after all, this is not my lagoon. just fair warning, if i catch you trying to do anything weird or shady, i will break your fingers." her tone was even, serious. the threat was probably unneeded, but it was a habit of elizabeths. she didn't trust people and with that, she had walls. she often said things that were unnecessary to normal people, however she wasn't all that normal. she was sure the man would either find her over dramatic or a joke, but she was neither. she didn't know who she could trust on this island and if need be, she could break his hand. elizabeth had turned away once it was clear that man would be joining her. she could hear him get into the water and at that point knew it was safe to turn in any direction she pleased. turning around she started the small talk, something elizabeth cared little for. she was a cut to the chase kind of girl and didn't normally have the time for idol chit-chat. however, seeing as they were clearly not going anywhere and had all the time in the world, chit-chat was what she provided. "the same, im getting sick of eating the same old thing. i have a few fruits i haven't tried yet and a few rabbits to share with the camp. i saw a hog, however i wasn't dumb enough to waist the time on trying to catch one of those. plus i knew carrying it from the deep part of the jungle to camp was going to be a battle. didn't see the point in waisting the energy."[/div] dom, 688 words, <3 [/style] credit to TONY

While Dominic didn't necessarily enjoy being trapped on a deserted island that was absent of civilization (as far as he knew), it was a breath of fresh air knowing that the organization who had controlled him for about six years couldn't get to him. They had plucked him from the miserable life he once lead at a gullible young age, promising him a brand new one where he could be somebody. He had become somebody alright...a monster who had been trained to kill for the wealthy. Once he had signed that contract and begun training, there had been no turning back. He had signed away his soul to the devil and he found himself in a situation where the choices were kill or be killed. Sometimes he wished that he had chosen the latter, but it was too late for that. Still, a part of him was set on the idea of gaining back some of his freedom. Being on the island had made him realize that.
At Elizabeth's threat, Dominic stopped what he was doing on the bank of the lagoon and turned his head to face her. The monster within threatened to rise to the surface, but Dominic managed to push it back down again with an amused smirk. "Likewise, sweetheart." He replied lightly. "But I'd be more wise about who I'm throwing out threats to on this island if I were you. You don't know what people are capable of..." He added coldly before sliding in the water, dunking his head under the surface for a brief moment, as if trying to compose himself.
Once he returned to the surface, any irritation he began to feel towards the girl had faded and he was now prepared to take on the inevitable small talk that he was about to endure. Small talk was most definitely not one of his favorite past times, but was quite good at it if the situation demanded it from him. Dominic merely nodded in approval as Elizabeth explained why she was so far out in the jungle. "So how long have you been here for? The island - it's a real mystery isn't it? No one seems to know who brought us here or why they did so in the first place..." Who brought the islanders here seemed to be the highest talked about topic among the group and getting to the bottom of it all had become one of Dominic's missions...whether he was going to gain success from it or not was a whole other factor.

"i was one of the first few to arrive. i believe i was person number five, but i may be wrong. how about you? have you been here long, i haven't kept up, if you haven't noticed." shrugging at dominics comment about who brought them there, she responded as she moved closer to the waterfall itself "to be honest i don't really fucking care who brought me here or why. my main goal is to just find a way off this place and leave. i don't need to know the whys or who's of it all." elizabeth wasn't sure why she was hell bent on getting off the island, it wasn't like she had a home or anyone to get back to, however she was a nomad, a person who moved from place to place and she had already spent more time on this island than she normally spent in a new town or city and that alone was bugging her. After being within Elizabeth's presence for a mere few minutes, Dominic was beginning to understand that she wasn't one to be underestimated. Despite her size and her quiet demeanor, Dominic could sense that there was a dangerous part of her that was ready to leap whenever she let her walls down. He knew this not just because he was an observant kind of person, but because she was just like him in the sense that he was hiding the dangerous part of himself too. However, this new knowledge did not throw Dominic. It was not because he thought himself stronger because he was a man and she a woman, but simply because he had dealt with worse people in his past.
Serial killers...rapists...torturers...were among the people he had assassinated and were the kind of people he had no trouble in killing because they were the kind of people that plagued this Earth, that he felt the world could do without. On the other hand, he had been given jobs that had required him to take out someone that simply failed to pay back their debt to a shady, power hungry businessman who had hired the organization he worked for to take them out. He was not proud when he followed through on a job like that, but he had little choice in the matter. If he refused a job, his superiors would have easily turned on him. They had a reputation for being dangerous, the last thing they wanted was a weak link among their employers.
"I wouldn't dream of it..." Was all Dominic said to Elizabeth's comment, his tone was cold, but his silence was by no means an admittance of defeat. Dominic wasn't like other men in a lot of ways. He didn't feel it was necessary to prove his strength at every given opportunity. He felt that by keeping his strength (physically, mentally and otherwise) hidden, he had leverage. He had always been a survivor that survived by always keeping people guessing.
As the conversation turned and became less intense, Dominic found that he was easily able to glide into his small talk mode as he swam about the lagoon. "I arrived in the last group." He stated simply, after acknowledging the information Elizabeth had given him with a casual nod. As Elizabeth snapped, Dominic raised his eyebrows incredulously as Elizabeth went from being calm and collected to feisty and naive. "You should care who fucking brought us here, because they're clearly the ones keeping us here. I thought that someone who had been on this island pretty much since the beginning would be able to understand that there's no getting off this bloody spit of land, not while they - whoever "they" might be - have our fate in their fucking hands!" Dominic snapped, unleashing a small outburst of anger as yet another person on this island seemed to believe that they had total control over their own survival. Yes, the islanders did their best to survive by sourcing sustenance, shelter and all the other necessities a human needed to physically survive, but it was clear to Dominic that their own fate was never in their own hands and never would be until their captors were done with them.
