[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=style, width: 400px; background-image: url(http://i583.photobucket.com/albums/ss279/legendskseeker/oceanbreezebg.png); padding-bottom: 20px;] words // 518 // outfit // click // tagged // anyone boy with a coin, T H E N M A K I N G A W I S H , A N D T O S S E D I N T H E S E A after over a year on the island, maura had adapted pretty well to life away from civilization. luckily for her though, she had grown up in some pretty uncivilized places, and her experiences had prepared her for what she had to deal with now. her father had been a doctor with the air force, and after that worked for the peace corps, taking her along with him wherever he went. he'd taught her how to survive in any situation, how to take care of herself. and right now, those skills she learned gave her a leg up on most of the other people on the island. but while she cared about her survival, she also knew that everyone on the island was on the same boat that she was, and most didn't have the skills that she did. so she felt that even though she could survive perfectly fine on her own, it was in her best interest to help the people who needed it. because who knew, someday she might need their help. at the moment, though, she had just wanted to get away from everyone and spend a few days on her own, just to try and figure things out. as one of the first people on the island, she had seen people come and even some people go. she'd watch people go crazy enough to kill, and she had even killed a few people herself. she wasn't proud of that fact, and she wishes that it could have been avoided, but she does what needs to be done, and that's that. all she knew was that the island was where she was at the moment, and this was what she had to deal with. and as long as she could keep other people safe, she would do whatever was needed. and right now, she was on a quest to get something that was needed. obsidian. it was perfect for knives and arrows, which could always come in handy. luckily, the island had volcanoes, so the volcanic glass was abundant. during her first few weeks on the island, she had discovered a large deposit of it, and had done well to keep it a secret. she didn't need the word getting out to the people who decided to tough it out on their own and have them take it all. no, it was her deposit, and she was going to keep it that way. no more than a mile from her destination, maura stopped for a water break, pulling a full bottle of fresh water from her pack, taking a small sip of the warm liquid. the sun was beating down harshly, and maura rubbed her hand against her forehead to get the sweat off. sitting down, she leaned against a rock and looked out over the island. it was beautiful, and if she wasn't stuck here, she'd have enjoyed coming here very much. but because she'd had no choice in the matter, she wasn't too thrilled. closing her eyes, she took a deep breath and just felt at piece, at least for the time being. notes // la la la la (: |
