He'd spent most of it in his hotel room, writing his third book. Misty, the fairy of his Immortal Plains series had found someone like her, an old fairy by the name of Sparklenipple, who had proceeded to tell her about the history of fairies and why they two were seemingly the last ones left. The words he spilled out of Haldir like a waterfall of sheer perfection as he wrote and wrote and wrote, and by nine he was spent.
It was now ten-thirty and he sat at the counter in some bar. Haldir looked at his watch, looking as though he was meeting someone, when on fact he wasn't. He looked at the other bar goers, nursing a glass of whiskey in his right hand, sipping on the drink at irregular intervals. Mostly he was just giving himself some down time. He believed he deserved it, especially after that incident at the mall. Haldir looked back at his drink and brought the glass back up to his lips, downing the rest of the copper liquid. He put it back down on the counter and called to the bartender. "Hit me again." He said, waiting for the bartender to refill his glass.

The TV was playing some sort of sport re-run that he wasn't paying attention to, but served as a good background noise. He wasn't drunk yet, but could feel the alcohol starting to affect him, his judgement and anything else it impaired. He felt almost distracted, his mind constantly coming up with new ideas for his books, but he never wrote them down. He wouldn't. Not in this state, because later on they wouldn't make sense.
Haldir looked back at the people in the bar, drinking, talking, some even had cigarettes in their hands, despite the rules but it looked like the employees didn't care as they left them alone. He didn't come to these places often. People weren't his thing. It wasn't as though he was anti-social, he wasn't. People just bore him. Mostly men, though. He could talk to women for hours, but only if it required him to do so. All he ever wanted from them was their bodies anyway. A way of releasing all the sexual tension he built up through out the day. Sometimes even two days. Sure it made him a whore, but it was better than taking matters into his own hands. He hated doing it to himself. He found it degrading, however ironic it seemed.
Suddenly a group of girls came into the bar and Haldir watched them, his green eyes dancing in the dim light. He even recognized one of them. Sammie, his brothers ex. He chuckled and looked down at his drink, letting the tip of his index finger run around the rim of the glass. It had been a while since he'd seen the model, and yet it had felt as if they'd only seen each other yesterday. He looked out of the corner of his eye only to spot her standing next to him, ordering drinks. Haldir took a sip on his drink and set it back down, never making eye contact. "Funny meeting you here, sweetheart." he said with a smirk, knowing full well that the nickname bothered her.

"what have i told you about calling me that haldir? are you looking to get your ass kicked her in a bar in front of all of those pretty women back there." smiling samantha glance down at the man who was her ex's brother. they had been stuck in a elevator together not to long ago, but other than that, they hadn't seen each other in a long time. He chuckled, having felt the punch against his shoulder, but made no move to show it. He'd always know Sammie to have a tough side, everyone always seemed to have one, but with Sammie she wasn't empty with her threats. He looked down at the napkin she had left on the bar with her phone number on and snatched it up before the bartender was able to. He smirked, staring at the black ink before letting his eyes fall back on his brother's ex.
"You couldn't beat me up if you wanted, Sammie." He stated, setting the napkin back down onto the bar. It had been recently that he'd found out that she'd once had a thing for him. He didn't know whether it was just a school girl crush, something to spite his brother in a harder time in their relationship, or something unexpected that could have been more if both of them had let it, but now she saw him as the biggest ass ever, which granted he was, but he knew that those feelings she may have once harboured for him still existed, as the ones he'd once felt for her.
He hadn't known what to make of the feelings, writing them off only as those feelings you'd get when you saw a hot girl and knew you couldn't have her, because that's the scenario he'd been in those years ago. Now, he could have been wrong, but those feelings seemed to be returning. At least that's the only reason he could figure for constantly having to annoy her; to push her buttons constantly. He loved to bug her, get her rialed up, to give her any reason to want to slap him silly, but she never did. She even knew how to push his buttons, but they were harder to find, the biggest being his brother's nickname for him. One she knew full well and used on him a few times since they'd found out they were in the same place.
Haldir locked his lips and checked Sammie out in full view of everyone, glancing to the side and spotting her friends across the bar. He gave them a wink and went back to focussing on the only girl he did know in the bar. He sat up straight, stretching out his back, feeling the vertabre crack and move under his skin. He let a soft moan escape his lips, and a smirk take its place. "If I left you alone this night wouldn't be any fun, now would it?" [/quote]

"don't do that. don't look at my friends and wink at them like they are a line up for you to pick from. you wont be sleeping with any of them tonight, ill make sure of that." she snapped at him as the bartender started to place the shots on the counter with a tray. "your right, if you left me alone it wouldn't be much fun, it would be a blast." smiling samantha started to put the shots on the try, ready to head back over to her friends. Why? He didn't know. He wasn't exactly in his right mind, the whiskey having impaired his mind, even if it had only been slightly. He chuckled and let his fingers dance on the bar, watching his female friend closely. He wondered what she was thinking, but wouldn't dare ask. He'd learned the hard way that that would get him into trouble, especially with this girl. He knew that she was tough, tougher than she looked and would push her buttons, but never push her over the edge.
Haldir just shook his head, his fingers crawling further down the bar towards the woman next to him, waiting for he right moment to strike. He wasn't quite sure whether or not his plan would work. He was pretty sure of her reaction though, but at that point he didn't care if she was going to go through with what shed said she would do.
As she spoke, he rolled his eyes. "But I do not want your friends tonight, my dear Samantha." He said, his fingers creeping along her sides. He watched his fingers, his smirk widening. This was it, the moment that he'd bee planning all of two minutes, and he was ready to spring into action.
"I want you." His words were slower than his actions were. Quickly he wrapped both his arms around Sammie's waist ad pulled her onto his lap. He looked out of the corner of his eye for her friends' reactions, before pressing his lips to Sammie's.

"don't make me hit you again hallie, this time it will be with more force, preferably enough to knock you off that stool, so stop looking at my girls. oh and good thing you don't want any of them, none of them would be dumb enough to fall for your tricks." she growled one more as she placed the last glass on the tray, freezing when she felt his fingers creeping along her sides. looking down at his hand then back up at him, her brow was raised and her eyes glowed with a warning, one for him to keep his paws off of her. shaking her head as haldir spoke again, samantha started to pick up the tray, ready to bolt. it didn't matter if he wanted her, he wasn't going to be getting her. one thing samantha didn't do and that was sleep with drunk men, unless she didn't know them and she was drunk herself. just as samantha was about to turn she could feel two arms wrap around her waist. she felt a tug and her hand let go of the tray so she wouldn't spill, a good thing, because before she knew it she was in haldirs lap and his lips were pressed against hers. for a slight moment she was frozen again. there was a million thoughts running through her head and due to the buzz she was slow at putting them in order and making a full reaction. for a second she almost enjoyed the kiss, till he brain remembered who's lips where on hers and what was going on. quickly pulling away samantha shoved on the mans chest, trying to push herself off of his lap "get off of me you fucker!" she half yelled before slapping his face with as much force as she could muster. "you have pulled a lot of tricks in your day haldir nathaniel bradley, but this tops them all." she growled as she turned to go back to collect her try so she could leave. It wasn't as if he was punishing himself for whatever reason, it was just something that happened. He slept with women, all just for a little fun, to mix things up essentially, and yet he ever fully enjoyed the experience. Sure, at the time it looked as though he was enjoying himself, but he'd gotten those acting skills from watching his brother.
He laughed, the slap had burned and his cheek was now bright scarlet in colour, but having pulled off his little "trick" as Sammie had called it, made him feel high on life. He watched her, laughter still playing in his eyes, a smile plastered on his face. He had known this was coming, and he welcomed it full heartedly. He wanted to bug her, to push her, he even knew when it was time for him to quit, and despite what had happened, he knew that he could push her a little farther. To bring her back to him for just a little more fun before he'd go back home and sleep off all the alcohol he'd consumed that night.
Haldir stood up, and finished the last of his drink. He set the glass on the table, wiping the stupid grin he had on his face off. "I'm sorry, Sam." He said, not really meaning it, and she could probably tell, he wasn't a very good liar in that respect. He ran a hand through his hair and sighed, looking quickly at the ground before letting his gaze return to Sammie herself. "Here, let me make it up to you. Let me take the drinks." He reached out a hand for the trays, not really having a plan, but not wanting her night to be blemished by his act of sheer stupidity and drunken humor.

"no, i don't need you to carry this for me and i don't want you at my table. plus im pretty sure some of the girls think your some kind of perv and you don't want to know what they do to pervs. i should let you see for you self, but im chopping all of this up to you being drunk." leaning up samantha placed a kiss on haldirs cheek. she wasn't sure why, probably because she was buzzed and her head wasn't as clear as normal, however it didn't matter " go home, sober up. you don't want to make a bigger ass of out yourself than normal do you?"[/div] hallie (kait), outfit, 467 words, <3 [/style] credit to TONY

With the smile having been wiped frm his face, and his quite obvious attempt to try and save himself having failed, he wasn't quite sure what to do. His head was swimming, though he wasn't completely drunk, but definitely over the legal limit and he was beginning to wonder if what she'd said was true. Was he really lacking in the brain cell department, did he only have creative intelligence when it came to his writing? Haldir looked down at the ground and got back up onto his stool, seemingly defeated by the nights activities and Sammie's words, but he didn't feel finished quite yet, he felt as though there was more to be said and done that night, as if fate was trying to throw them together in any possible situation they could think of. As if it was some sort of silly game.
"I'm not a perv, and you know that. They're only assuming that because they don't know that you and I and a history. Sure, it's brief and not the best, but there's history." he said, his thoughts jumbled. Okay so maybe the alcohol had affected him more than he originally thought, but that was okay. He didn't mind. When she kissed him, though on the cheek, his face flushed. All the blood in his body seemed to rapidly move from everywhere else and made its way to his face, turning from its usual dark golden brown, like a fresh baked cookie to that of a deep red like a beet. He really didn't know why he was blushing. It wasnt like he liked her. Not like that. At least he didnt think so, but it seemed to be a reaction that his mind had no control over. He looked back up at Sammie. "You want me to go home so badly, come with me."

"they don't know that your not a perv and to be honest, in this moment, i wouldn't stop them if they attacked you. i would allow them to believe whatever it is they want to believe, especially after that comment. i wouldn't really call being your brothers ex, history. after all, after pippin and i started dating, you and i hardly talking. something im now going to force you to explain when your more sober." shaking her head samantha picked up the tray one last time and started to turn. she heard haldirs comment and shook her head, she knew it had been coming. "fine ill take you home and tuck you in, but that's all its going to be. as a future doctor, i cant send a drunk man driving home. let me believe these drinks and inform my friends ill have to catch up with them at the next bar." shaking her head samantha walked up, taking the tray back over to her friends and trying to explain all that was going on, in a failed attempt. it wasn't to long before she was returning back to haldirs side, a place she didn't care to be. He smiled spun around to face the bartender. He ordered another drink for himself, though it wasn't the smartest of ideas, he didn't care. It's not like he was completely drunk quite yet. He was one of few people who could really hold their drink, unlike his brother who was a babbling fool after only after a couple of beers, where as he was on his ninth whiskey and was still only buzzed off the copper liquid. He wondered what would happen when they get back to his place. Would it be as she said, or would something happen that changed their lives, like sleep together. Sammie didn't seem like she was drunk enough to agree to something like that. Especially not with him. He knew that sleeping with her in this state would be bad, hell, sleeping with her in any state would be bad. If his brother found out he would probably kick his ass and hate him forever. Actually, on second thought, that was the best idea he'd ever come up with.
Haldir chuckled to himself and downed the drink he'd ordered while Sammie had gone to talk to her friends. He now actually wanted to attempt to sleep with her, just to piss off his brother when he told her, but he doubted that she'd agree to such an arrangement. He shook his head and paid his bill, leaving a generous tip along with it as he waited for her to return. When she did, a sloppy smile formed on his face and he stood up, stumbling over his large feet as he did. He chuckled and looked down at Sammie. "You like me." He told her, disregarding everything shed said previously about their "lack" of history as she'd put it, though not in so many words. He put an arm around her shoulders lazily, smiling like the idiot Sammie had portrayed him as in the elevator. "You and I could party together, you know." He said, adding with a wink. "Naked."

"oh keep wishing there big guy. if anything i strongly dislike you. im only doing this for your brother, so be glad i still care about that man or you would be fucked." shaking her head samantha started to try and lead haldir out of the bar, but stopped as started to speak once more. wiggling out of haldirs arms, samantha started to protest to the idea of them partying together, however stopped when he finished. her eyes widened for a moment before they turned into hard lines of a glare and once more her hand was up and flying to meet his face in yet another hard slap. "you are such an arrogant fucking pig!" throwing her hands up in the air samantha started to head for the door, fuming. "ill be in the car, if you can make it there alone ill drive you home. but if you say anything and i will toss you out of it, moving." shaking her head she pushed the front door of the bar open and headed out into the parking lot, not waiting to see if he was following. The older man groaned and used his now free hand to rub the wounded spot. He frowned and looked at Sammie as she walked away. Arrogant. That's what she called him. He'd never considered himself like that. He'd always just been the jerk, the bastard hell bent on ruinining anyone and everyone's day with just one flick of the wrist. But arrogant? He still couldn't see it.
Just as if he was a loyal dog, Haldir stumbled along behind Samantha. It was quite evident to him now that that last drink was worse of an idea than he'd originally calculated. His boots were heavy and made it hard for him to walk so he kept tripping over himself. The only way he was really keeping himself upright at all was the edge of the bar as he walked towards the door behind Sammie. It hadn't been all that busy, but there were enough people around to make it seem crowded. It was a small place and any more than ten people made it crowded it seemed, but no one had been seated at the bar. He'd been the only one where as everyone was with someone else and sat at the tables.
"I'll be there, Sam. And I won't say anything you don't want me to." He said after her. He wasn't sure if she'd heard him or not, but he didn't think it really mattered. He was a mess; he realized that now. He couldn't believe what he was getting himself into. That stupid drunk grin he'd had plastered on his face was now wiped clean. In fact he was starting to feel kind of sick. He didn't think it could have been the alcohol, he hadn't had enough to make him that drunk, and yet his stomach churned with every step towards the door. Haldir placed a hand over his stomach and groaned a second time. It was the guilt that he was now feeling that was making him sick. He'd never felt guilty and now it's the only emotion that flooded through his body. He felt guilty for saying those things to Sammie, for doing what he'd done, for taking away her night. What the fuck was wrong with him?
